I pulled carpet from the front to check out the condition of the floor boards on my Daytona convertible. The carpet wasn't worn, just faded. I had it lying on my basement floor and remembered buying a can of spray dye a few months back. (Plasti-kote fabric color 510 Ebony). I gave up the idea of trying to dye it while in the car but saw the opportunity to try this out. So I vacuumed, shampooed, let dry in the sun, and then did the spray. I think it looks great and rubbing it this morning, no dye came off.

I did the same thing to my door panels on my Avanti. Faded really bad and although I replaced all the carpet last month I kept the panel carpet to use later and just used the paint dye. As long as you brush it in all directions between coates it looks and feels like carpet. Can't tell the difference. Dave B
Years ago I re-dyed some blue carpets out of a car. I reasoned that the color would be uneven if I hung them up, so I laid them flat on the basement floor. We had a cat at the time who wasn't too smart, but I thought surely he would not lay on a wet carpet. Well........Months later when he died (had a big tumor in his throat) he was still blue on one side!
