I'm baaack!

Back home, and back on the newsgroup. I was away working at a wellsite from mid

-July until this past Tuesday. Got home, and found my wireless broadband was down because they had reconfigured the system while my modem was powered down. A tech had to come out and reconfigure my modem; then I still had to putz around with their tech help line to get DNS service in my computer. For some obscure reason, I coud not get newsgroup access while on the network at the rig, although I got e-mail and Internet OK. Go figure.

Had a good shop day today, didn't touch a Studebaker, but I did get a brake job done on a friend's Pontiac Sunfire, and I made some progress putting a floor in the spare tire well on the old Flxible coach. I needed a piece of sheet steel 35" X 42", and I found a suitably flat piece in an old Datsun pickup hood. So my spare tire well will have a red floor with a decal of galloping horses on it. Kewl! Started getting dark and chilly (where did Summer go?), so I packed it in without getting all the welding done. But I at least made SOME forward progress. Life is good again!

Gord, glad to see you made it off the well!

If you get a chance to look at c body sections before your next job, let me know.

Thanks!

Welcome back Gord... I knew that "something" was missing here.

BTW, an old Buick hood contributed to the "new" floor in my T-Cab!

Me too. I have been away for 3 weeks. After grabbing an ebay-purchased old Gravely in Nashville, I dropped a 57 Packard wagon off in OH, & picked up the Pack Hawk & parts I bought from Harry Hinz auction in July. They were within 25 miles of each other just west of Canton. While there I attended the Canfield OH swap meet & the wonderful Glenmoore Gathering of Significant cars. I then met the Logas & Bahr's in Clinton, IN when I arrived to pick up the load of parts I bought out of the Ron Rasek estate on way home from SB in June. I dropped off the Pack Hawk then hauled the stuff up to Hudson WI for the Stude swap there. I found that the attendees were there to SELL, not to buy for the most part and barely covered my fuel cost to go there. I had a nice vist with Jim & Marge at Wisconsin Studebaker while in the area. He actually has more Stude stutff than me! After returniing to Clinton for the Hawk, I stopped to visit Stude friends in KS & OK, then went on to Denton TX for the So. Central Zone meet, which was today. I saw Ebon Jones there, but missed Dave :-(. I had perfect Fall weather for the whole trip, & no mechanical or law enforcement problems, so am thankful for a safe, successful & fun trip, though the ol' hemmorhoids are a bit sore from the $3.00+ diesel I had to buy in copious quantities.

Was good to see you at Hudson,Barry. I went over to the older gentlemans place to finalize the deal for the flock-o-Studes we looked at.He had cut down all the brush and trees to make access easier. They are going to be interesting as far as moving.Glad you avoided the gendarmes in Wisconsin.I'm just heading off on a weeks vacation with no computer but when I get back I'll be hauling Studes starting most of October.Need any C/K doors? Watch this space for pics and details. 15 cars and 1 truck to move.....I must be nuts.

I missed you guys, too! Denton has always been one of my favorite meets, but my local car club sponsered it's show yesterday, and since I missed the last one in order to make Omaha last year, I felt obligated to make the local show this year.

Hope to see some of you in McPherson, KS next month!

BTW, Barry, if you come across my "Went Shopping" thread, let me know what you think. It's been a few weeks since I looked at those cars and parts, maybe the guy is willing to go down on price by now.
