John: Isn't the P-38 Lightning the plane that supposedly gave Loewy's group the design concept for the 50/51 bullet nose? bob.c

Hopefully it can be salvaged, and not looted. And someone from that era had to remember a fighter plane left on the beach, despite what the article claimed.

Interesting find, but with the salt water, I doubt anything is useable.

The front end is patterned upon the fuselodge and engine nacelles of the P-38. The rear window and roof line of the starlight's, the green house of the B-17 heavy bomber.

--Full circle: The P-38 was designed by the same guy who did Studebaker's

1932 Indy car, one Clarence Johnson. He had a nickname, just can't think of it...

In England, i the 190s, the Sunday Sprt, a weekly newspaper(?), printed a story about a B24 that had been found onthe moon. There were some serious photo cuts still showing.

Along that line,I fonally got aboard the "Spruce Goose" in a museuim in Oregon last week. i had stayed at the Queen Mary in about 1972, but didn't get chance to sit it there.

This was the last of a triple round trip in November.

1) Houston for a wedding that cost, according to one estrimate, $400k +, pretty close to what I made thgroughout my full working life.

2) A week in Hawaii that we have wanted for years.

3) The Thanksgiving trip to Oregon.

My thought? Back to 727s, and maybe even re-start PSA!

Karl

I went to one of those once... they were divorced within a year.
