stock car wheels for street?

I don't know why, but I ended up looking at some racing wheels out of idle curiosity, the steel wheels sold by Bart, Bassett, et. al... they look like they're pretty light and cheap, they're available in 15x7" with various offsets, and I think silver powdercoat would look good with my black car. Question is, are any of them street legal? $40 for a racing wheel beats the heck out of $150 for an alloy, but if it would make my car a cop magnet...

(didn't realize how heavy the cop car wheels were until I actually had them...)

racing wheels are not DOT, NHTSA, or EIEIO approved for ON-Road use, they are too thin and fragile.

Be careful, most of the racing wheels are drilled for 5/8 studs.

I thought of that but I did know that "special" lug nuts are available...

...then I remembered that I have LH thread studs on my car... :(

I guess that's a good excuse to run out and buy a set of late model finned drums? :)
