1990 L series wagon, warning lights

Hi all,

noticed something weird today that i cant work out. The car is an Australian (Jap built) 1990 L series 4wd wagon EA82 1.8 motor.

Some of the warning lights (Charge, Stop Lamp and Brake Fluid, and not the others) are glowing at idle. As i rev the engine they fade to almost not illuminated at higher rpm. Most odd. Anyone know a possible explanation.

Also this may or may not be related. The car has been running a bit hot lately (last 6 months) I figured the radiator was on its way out. Or maybe a sticking thermostat? If i turn the a/c on (and hence the auxillary fan) it cools down a bit (note the a/c needs gasing so this doesnt cool the inside of the car down :-( ). Well today when the warning lights started showing the engine was running back at its old mark on the temp gauge showing no sign of getting hot...?????

Alternator.

The overheating is probably not related.
