Crosstrek test drive

I drove the new Crosstrek yesterday for about 15 minutes, Sommers of Mequon, Wi. has three of them.

I liked the new(to me) tranny but the 2 liter engine was a bit lacking. I can use the extra ground clearance for the hidden rocks on my deer land. Is there a practical way to raise my OBS a couple of inches?

It seems like a larger car than the OBS it's replacing and it felt larger, but I like the small car feeling of my '07 OBS better.

Finally, the ignition key is now part of the remote fob, which means no more heating the key to unfreeze the door lock.

what a surprise

OBS is a pig as it is with the stilts it walks out of the factory on. I would not add any raisers to it.

That's the case on my Tribeca as well vs. my old 2000 Outback. There is only one door key hole on the entire outside, which is on the driver's side front door. And if you use your door key to open the door manually, then the sirens go off! I asked the dealer why this is, and they said it's by design, they expect you to open it with the remote these days, and the sirens will only go off when you start the ignition with the key.

New fangled ideas, kills us old-timers, I guess. :)
