Vibration 2500-3000 rpm - 02 manual Forester.

Hello All,

I just purchased a new to me 02 Forester, and consequently discovered an annoying buzzing vibration sound coming from the manual shifter when driven at 2500-3000 rpm for a while. The shifter is constantly vibrating a little, but it seems to reach a resonance frequency around this rpm in multiple gears.

A little higher or lower rpm it's fine.

Any Ideas what it could be and how to get rid of it?

Thanks, Mat.

The sound can usually be stopped once you absolutely figure out where it's coming from. If you can hold the shifter and stop the vibration you're off to a good start. Could be sloppy bushings in the shifter or linkage somewhere.
