I have a 84 Ford LTD 4-door that was sitting for about 3 years. A number of things suffered as it wasn't prep'ed first and the windshield leaked so plenty of moisture is involved. None of the electric windows would move so I started checking. At the fuse panel, I'm only getting about 6.5 volts so I pulled the drivers door panel off and disconnected the motor. I then pulled the motor and thought that I'd test it directly on the battery with jumper wires. After looking at the wiring diagrams and pretending to know what I was looking at, I think I figured out that the motor is grounded through the frame and the two wire connection was for Hot-Up and Hot-Down with the frame being the common ground. I got no response from the motor.
Am I correct with my understanding on the wiring connection? I want to make sure I have a good motor before I tackle the 6.5 volt issue.
