Hi

I'm contemplating purchasing an OBD 11 code reader for use with my

2000 Windstar. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me where a good place to look for one is in Ontario Can. I'm not against purchasing online etc.

How did you find it to work Bill??

I'm really interested!!

It works fine. I haven't had any code problems since getting it but have run several scans on my 99 Venture and 96 cavalier. I do have a problem on the Cavalier in enhanced scan that I haven't taken the time to isolate. One or more of the items it is trying to read is causing crc checks on the serial port and causes the engine to stumble. I e-mailed Alex about it and he made some suggestions I haven't tried yet but they have had no reports of the problem. It works fine on the Venture. I was looking at for over a year and hesitated in ordering it when I got a service engine light on the Venture. Cost me $80 to get the codes read. I am happy with the cable and program and think it and the service manuals will help me analyze any problem that comes up. Well maybe not the lower intake manifold leak that I am waiting for in the GM3400 engine in the Venture....

Where in Ontario are you? I have a scanner in Waterloo. Cable for the OBD2 is expected this week or next.

Do you have to have a laptop to use these or can you use your desktop if you park close enough to your house?

Serial cables work over long distances. It works fine for OBD2 code reading as I have done it. I made a long serial cable with a length of network cabling and that I soldered serial connectors to.
