04 camry with oil leak

We have a Camry that's about a year old (2004) and we're getting drips of oil on our driveway.

Took it to the dealer. They said that Jiffy Lube (the only place we'd had the oil changed) just hadn't cleaned the oil off of the bottom of the car.

Took it back to Jiffy Lube and their story was that this was a problem with Camrys of this year and that they didn't damage the vehicle when changing the oil.

Took it back to the dealer. They said it appeared to be just residue on the undercarriage of the car. I know this isn't the case as every couple of days there's a new drip on the driveway.

Before I take it back to the dealer I'm curious as to whether anyone is aware of an existing problem with this year of CAMRY.

I'm trying to determine if Jiffy Lube's story is bullsh*t or not. If there is a history of trouble with this make/model then I want it fixed under warranty. If not then I think Jiffy Lube should cover the repair costs.

But right now the dealer hasn't pointed the finger at J-Lube yet, just said it looked like residue on the undercarriage.

Any thoughts?

I would make sure that Jiffy Lube replaced the gasket between the drain plug and the pan, and that the drain plug is reasonably tight. My Honda dealer neglected to fully tighten the plug on the family CR-V the last time the oil was changed and made a mess on my driveway, for which they were suitably chastised, to the tune of a free oil change.

I have to ask specifically for the quick-lube places to catch / clean the area around my oil filter on my '02 Avalon, or I have the same problem after every oil change. The filter is horizontal, so it naturally leaks some oil when it's removed. If they don't put something there to soak it up, or clean it after the job is done, I always have some drips for a few days. Just ask them to clean up after themselves (they all have a pressure washer around), and you'll be fine, methinks. I also have an 04 Camry, and haven't noticed it. It's probably determined by who does the work, and how careful they are.

There are no oil leak problem on Toyota. Iffy lub is really risky for service. The filter they installed cost them less than .25. Have your car steam cleaned and see where its leaking or if still leaking. If you insist dealer look at it they should charge a diagonstic fee if it isn't a warrrant covered leak.

I agree. The problem is with Jiffy Lube, not Toyota. On the Camry, I change my own oil - don't like anyone else to touch the car. On my 1977 Toyota pick up truck, I have had a quick lube place change the oil, simply because I don't want to mess with it, and they have the pressurized grease gun for the zerk fittings on the control arms (which I always have to point out the upper joints so they're not overlooked). When I had the clutch replaced, it took the owner of the transmission shop around half an hour with a chisel and torch to remove the transmission fill plug which had been ridiculously over tightened (by others). Also, I carry a supply of oil drain plug gaskets for the quick lube place, because if they don't change it each time, it drips.
