at around 3000rpm my car will jurk forward and back violently when going at a constant speed (3rd gear 50km/hr) the only way to stop it is to put the cluth in or speed up. please help.

What model vehicle? What is the odometer reading? How long and how many km since the last service?

Things that can cause the problem you are describing are a problem with the EGR valve, improper ignition timing, a problem with the ignition system (coil, distributor, rotor, distributor cap, high tension wires, spark plugs), a vacuum leak, or a problem with the throttle cable.

It could be a primary electrical intermittent failure, or a fuel supply problem. Like Ray O mentioned, a bit more information would be helpful. Does the engine continue to "miss" when you push the clutch in and hold the rpm's at 3000, or only under a load? Do you mean that when you are accelerating above 3000 rpm it stops and then misses again when you stop accelerating and reach a steady speed?
