Better brake pads for Starlet (non-turbo)

Hi,



I got my pads changed with OEM at Toyota. Now the tyres full of brake dust after 100km. I am told this is because of the asbestos blah-blah or lack of it.



Can anyone recommend some ceramic etc brake pads that won't make that much dust for a little car like Toyota Starlet Life 1997 ? I tried several local shops and all recommend crappier brands than the OEM 0 which will make even more dust probably. Are the ceramic ones just for performance or performance-wannabe cars ?

Ceramic pads will not necessarily produce less brake dust, they may also wear the rotors more quickly, and they may cause brake noise. Try washing the wheels (tyres generally do not show much brake dust since both are black) and see if there is less brake dust now than when the pads were new. New pads can sometimes produce a lot of brake dust until they are worn in.
