This is why I asked you if you remembered when right-on-red became more widespread in this country. Anytime you sit with your engine running and not moving you are at zero, so turn off your engine while waiting. So how many times in the day do you do that? For how long? Are you making unnecessary trips? Could you walk rather than drive? Did you choose a fuel efficient vehicle? Do you use excessive throttle to get going and do you go in excess of 60 mph on the freeway or optimum RPM for fuel savings?

Millions of people make millions of UNnecessary trips. I see it all the time. Make ONE trip to get a quart (litre here) of milk. Come home. Half an hour later, make ANOTHER trip to get a dozen eggs. Over and over and over. I plan my week in advance, compressing all chores into TWO trips, max.
