Criticizing GWB isn't an act of courage---anybody who does it is instantly embraced by the media and the entertainment establishment. Natalie Maines only risk was in being in COUNTRY music and siding with the left, a decision that cost her most of her country fans, but simply replaced them with people who buy music based on their political ideology.

I have nothing against the Dixie Chicks as musicians, but what bugs me about their Grammy wins is that you know in the back of your mind that this was done to make a political statement, not because of the music. The Grammy's have lost all credibility in my book.

They criticized the president in March 2003, just prior to the Iraq invasion, not at all a popular postition at the time.

If they had come out in support of the war it would have been a non-story. They would have been on the bandwagon with all the other dupes.
