Not someone that knows how to improve our education system....
We have damned near the worst in the world....
Not someone that knows how to improve our education system....

Nope, just shows he does not know anything about education in America....
Nope.....
People that can improve the quality of education.
We are damned near the bottom of the world now...
Oh hell yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Teachers should NEVER be granted tenure....
Education should be like industry....matter of fact we should privatize all education.
Yes they do.
We need to take education away from government and put it in private hands.
Government doesn't do anything will....least of all education!
The next-to-last has become more & more of a problem since I started teaching. Kids - 8 yr. olds - often have their own TV, DVD, PC, etc. in their bedrooms. Arghhh. Child asks, child gets. A lot of entitlement junk. Arghh. I see less & less of follow-through re: discipline. Parent says this or that will happen if child does this or that one more time, but parent doens't follow through because... it's easier (in the short term) not to. Arghhh. Child then comes to school with little home discipline. However, many children *do* discriminate, thank goodness, between the public & more formal setting of school, & that of home.
And this last can be a biggy. It doens't happen often (in my district, at least), but when it does - what a PITA. For everyone, incl. their children.
Merci! Most teachers are truly good at what they do. Sure there are some bad apples, but all of society is strewn with some bad apples. Teachers are people. (Despite what lots of little kids seem to think; they seem astounded to come upon us in a grocery store! )
I've had (nice & normal) parents come in for this or that - a party, a field trip, whatever... & on their way out whisper to me, "I don't know how you
*do* (variant: *stand*) this." And that wasn't even a usual school day! ;-)Cathy
Translation: You have no idea who reviews her work, so every comment you've made in this discussion is based on vapor.
I know who judges teachers in my district. You pretend to have that information regarding Cathy's district.
Your bp's going up, up, up.... (BTW - you, supposedly, are a Christian, right? Kinda strange thoughts for a Christian to wish upon another person, I'd think....)
Go outside & enjoy the weather if it's nice. Watch the birds, watch the squirrels - or feed them. Take a walk in the park...
BTW - by not going to NYC you are missing a lot of fine architecture, culture, & Central Park - which is beautiful. But... OMG - NYC is diverse - you might be exposed to those with viewpoints different than your own. Uh-oh... By not going to NYS you a re missing out on the Catskills & Adirondacks, the Hudson River Valley, Niagara Falls... & believe it or not, the chance to meet some fellow conservatives. (Although, come to think of it... prob. not too many as right-wing & as full of hate as you apparently are... )

I missed this entence before. Ha! In my bldg., PC lab is once every six days for 45 minutes.
Cathy
No wonder we are now falling behind a lot of the Industrialized
And they are...???
Cathy
I would be happy to....
I guess we can assume he was educated in a public school, in one of our major cities, right ;)
mike
Not any more. The RAP stars have taken over that roll ;
This would be very good. Save taxpayers $$. Kids get better training for industry. Make more engineers and less liberal arts, lawyers, and politicians. I just read today where college grads are turning to trade schools to get marketable training. College is turning out educated, but unemployable people. Like how many biologists do we need.
Mathematicians, accountants?

She is right

I think that might have meant "politically correct"
Natalie
I'm sure you would, but this contradicts your previous answer.
So, those people would be... ??
Cathy
Ah... yeah, you're prob. right.
Instruction via PCs in schools has been in the news lately - studies re: advantageous or not sort of deal. Therefore my brain automatically assumed...
