It is not a requirement but the chances of the couple staying together through usual difficult times for the sake of the children is tantamountly more. Then they are forced to work through those difficulties and come out stronger afterwards. Needless to say this is not the rule but it has much higher probabilities in the end.

Oh, and the children aren't bastards either.

Children from unmarried parents are not referred to as bastards in Canada, at least where I live. I guess things are a bit different in the US.

No matter if their parents are married, divorced or even gay, children should be referred to as children. Nothing more, nothing less. If I meet an unmarried person with children, I will ask that person "How are your kids?" and certainly not "How are your bastards?" What about you?

Yes, the children are not at fault for the self-centerdness of their parents but they will end up paying for it anyway.

That's why I believe that FUNCTIONAL 2-parent of different gender families should be encouraged as the NORM. Other forms of families involving the raising of children should NOT be recognized for tax purposes, but tolerated in the legal sense.

GW Bush and his three brothers came from a 2-parent family, and all of them have been involved in fraud and bankruptcies of their shady companies.

Gen. Wesley Clark came from a single-parent family and turned out much better. That is a FACT.
