OT: Major history anniversary

On December 24th of 1906, the first audio broadcast went out over the waves (literally) from Brant Rock, Massechusetts. The equipment was crude and only certain newer equipment could hear it, but it was heard. The first announcer, and all round DJ was Reginald Aubrey Fessenden. Prior to this, there was only spark and the sound of dits and dahs. It would be yet another 14 years before regular broadcasting would begin in the United States, when 8XK (later KDKA) broadcast election returns on November 2,

1920.

It was 6 years before the Titanic disaster and a mere 5 years after Marconi had spanned the Atlantic. There was no international system of identifying stations. WW(1) was still almost a decade away. The Cubs last World Series win was a mere 2 years ago, Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th President and the U S Flag had 45 stars.

To 100 years of AM 'broadcasting', known by some as Ancient Modulation.
