Have just printed it out, to read the whole article. So far, online, got as far as:

"...Honda is trying electroshock therapy on its hybrids." ;-)

Might be better to study the "big picture" CAFE figures rather than the discrete numbers for a couple of glitzy "greener than thou" show cars.

This is a reprint of the NHTSA's mandated CAFE results.

See GM? It has few hybrids (none?), yet tops some of these CAFE figures.

Uh-huh. Of course, if Toyota stopped selling trucks, they'd still be making money and if GM stopped selling trucks, they'd go out of business in about

20 minutes.

Does this report, by any chance, include the generous fudge factor they throw in for E-85 capability that practically no one buying an E-85-capable vehicle actually uses? Why, yes, it does.

Which GM cars offer 40+mpg? Y'all let me know. I'd sure like to be getting

40+mpg in a GM car. Let me know when I can find a Volt in a Chevy showroom.

huh? It's not about that - it's about Honda trying to regain their hybrid cred.

I was impressed today with a Honda civic. A large tree had fallen right on the top of it with hardly any damage to the roof, it didn't cave in as I thought it would. Honda must really do a good job in reinforcing the roof for rollover accidents. I give Honda a gold star.

We had 71 mph wind gust this morning in a storm. So a few trees bit the dust.

I'll bet. Reminds me of the *four* hurricanes we had in Florida back in

2004. We've since moved, and my family doesn't want me to move back. I told them we had the hurricanes because the Air Force had sent my hubby overseas. Those hormones had to vent *some* way.

A couple years ago, a family with a couple older kids and a very wee one in backward car seat was on an outing to the zoo in their Honda Odyssey, a couple years old at the time. Some people in front, some in the middle, some in the back. Cement truck following them goofed and didn't stop in time. To avoid a rear ender, he swung the wheel left then right, but was going too fast and was out of control and ended up toppling the big mixer end of the truck ON TOP OF said Odyssey.

Van was crushed. The pictures were frightening.

All passengers walked away. Literally. Missed the baby by a few inches, but that was good enough.

You want a safe car? Buy an Odyssey.

Well, yeah, a minivan would be way safer, but I think the point was that despite the Honda being a smaller vehicle, it held up well.

I can't tell if you're referring to your Echo's shape or your shape. If it's your shape, congrats. My wife delivered a cute little one the other day. The mother said she didn't know she was pregnant. Everyone I tell the whole story to roll their eyes. Her clinic isn't setup for deliveries so it came as a surprise when the woman started yelling from the bathroom. She said to my wife she had this urge to push and before they knew it, she was squatting and out plopped the baby. A little black one with lots of hair, screaming a mile a minute.

BITE YOUR TONGUE! I stopped delivering little ones back in 1990!

I meant the Echo dah-ling. And I feel sorry for that kid you mentioned.

Gawd, whatta maroon.

That's similar to how I was born, actually. My mom was a teenager and quite clueless. Went to see the doc cuz she wasn't feeling well. She *knew* she was preggers though.

Even from childhood, I endeavored not only to have children with my

*husband*, and when I'm an *adult*, but that if I had more than one, they'd have the same father.

I was successful.
