I signed the title of the Corolla FX 16 to my mom today, so 'Tricia Toyota' is now the property of an elderly lady who likes to go fishing, rather than a family that includes two teenagers. My mom called me in a panic earlier today, telling me that the car was 'shuddering really bad!' I allayed her fears by saying, "Mom, it has an MR-2 engine; it likes to go, not stop!" She asked me how long it's been doing that, and did we try to get it fixed. I told her it's been doing that for at least the last 10 years, but does not break down. I also told her that if it turns out something actually *is* wrong, other than old age (It's an '87), let us know, but don't hold her breath. That old gal's giddyup is eternal.
I still say that old FX 16 has a *much* better ride, and is way more nimble than the Scion XA. No skin off my nose, since the Scion's Bob's car, and the Echo's mine. I'll just get my Echo painted (The early Echoes had total s*it for paint jobs!) I'll make sure I get a treatment that decreases rust, since rust is what ate the Corolla into expensive parts replacements.
