The Chinese are coming!

Since the average American family is losing buying power, and in all probability due to corporate owned politicians and outsourcing will continue to do so, getting accustomed to "Wal-Mart shit" is whats in store for most folks.

Do you have citations for this? I have read a little bit about how companies are going to assemble cars in Mexico with imported parts, especially from China, but nothing about them being assembled in the US. I would like to read more about this.

Except the Toyota Sienna has about 80% US content and is assembled in the US. And Toyota buys something like $25 billion in parts and services from American companies. For the cars and trucks that are assembled in America, most of the parts come from America.

I don't see why I should care whether labor is union or non-union, myself.

I remember hearing the same thing about cars made in Japan, back in the early 70's and I said it at the time also. The products I've bought that were made in china have been satisfactory. This includes kitchen faucets, fans, air compressors, generator, probably most of the computer I'm using, tools, lots of things. The 12 dollar oscillating fan from Dollar General impresses me the most. 7 years now, quiet, runs fine, does what it was supposed to do every summer since I got it. Runs 24/7 4 months of the year.

Nero fiddled while Rome burned stuff. Same as in the old Vietnam days, while we were fighting and wasting resources and lives to fight the commies, Japan was gaining market share in smoke stack industries, and later expanded to higher tech things. So now we expend resources and lives to fight the terrorists in Iraq and here comes China, who last I heard was still communist. Whatever, the main thing is Wall Street makes some money. The dots are out there, see if you can connect them.

I would say it is more like taking advantage a dumbed down nation who was sold out by traitors who negotiated these outrageous trade agreements and then went to work directly for the Chinese or their law or lobbying firm received large sums of money for their services. We are suppling the Chinese with the money to build and aim intercontinental missiles armed with Nuclear warheads at us. These huge deficits we are gleefully accepting are going to be the final nail in our own self destruction. Our military is also assisting the Chinese to build up their military, talk about suicidal madness. There is no capitalism in China as the government controls everything and no one dares go against the central government.

Listen Pinhead, the Republicans were the party who started this trade madness and the Democrats have sighed on, so it is the Democrats who created the problem eh bozo?

Not quite, the greed of American consumer is what accounts for the imports flooding this county. If Americans did not buy imports, there would be not imports for sale. Apparently Americans would rather save a few dollars than a lot of jobs

Americans should be more like the Japanese, the Japanese prefer to buy products made in Japan by Japanese corporations even if they cost more, to protect their economy and the jobs of their children and grand children.

Americans seem hell bent on sending all of the high paying American jobs, that account for the USA being the worlds biggest market, off shore. American prefer eliminating those high paying American jobs, and blaming the government and business for the problem.

When the American corporations go out of business the only production jobs available will be in a plant owned by a foreign corporation, that pays lower wages and offers far fewer benefits to their employees, then take the profits out of the US federal cooperate tax free, as is the case with Toyota and other Japanese corporations.

Soon the only thing your children and grand children will need to know is how to say "Do you want fries with that?" and "Welcome to Wal-Mart." if Americans don't wise up.

It's a nice thought, but I hate feeding the political left wing labor unions.

Again I must ask, what does our war with all of the radial Islamic terrorists, have to do with Americans buying imports and sending their children's and grand children's jobs over seas? If American did not buy imports, who would continue to import foreign goods?

Taxes have not been raised to pay for our war with the radial Islamic terrorist. In fact taxes, for ALL Americans, were cut during the Presidents first term before we were attacked. It is those tax cuts that have lead to the fantastic growth in the economy since than. The economy is bringing in more income taxes to the US treasury than any time in our history and more than the US treasury is currently spending. That is the first time that has ever happened in time of war. So what is your beef?

Americans have been buying imports and sending their children's and grand children's jobs over seas for years, long before we were attacked by the radial Islamic terrorists and before our troops went to kill them in Iraq and Afghanistan so we do not need to fight them in our country ;)

You and the rest of us can take this opportunity to show the government, and the others that you think are the problem, how capitalism REALLY works. We Americans can stop buying all imported materials and products that we do, except those materials that we do not have or products that can produced by our own corporations and workers.

That is what the Japanese practice. We can start by drilling for our own gas and oil in Alaska and other states and our territorial waters and by building lower cost safer nuclear power plants

Why not, when you could save money? Cars made in non union shops sell for more money than those made in union shops. Ever wonder how many union workers do business where you work?

Better your grand children not have a job, right?

No, it's not that but it's about the control over the working people the unions have and the amount of money they steal from them. The unions used to be a plus for working people, now days it's all about political power and how much money they can take from the working peoples pockets in the name of watching out for them. The unions are fine if they would only stick with their basic goals of yesteryear.

The unions of today care not one whit for the workers. All they want is their union dues and carp on the members to vote for democrats. Don't bullshit by telling me different because I know.

Right, you *know*. I gladly pay my union dues: the ensuing legislation benefits me - you know, a working person - & my colleagues. For starters, I'm mighty glad I'll have a defined pension.

You can carp all you want about unions, but I'm glad to have mine.
