Toyota Landcruiser II

It's a 22R engine, the idle was not smooth and difficult to get started when the engine is warmed up/hot.

Recently changed the carburetor, convert to electronic ignition but the engine does not seemed to perform up to expectation.

Is there any other things that I should check?

Check the carburetor setup, including the float level and choke operation. Make sure that the fuel line is not routed over the exhaust manifold and all heat shields are in place. Check for manifold vacuum leaks.

If you are still having problems, start with the basics, air, fuel, and spark at the appropriate times and if it still doesn't start, have the car put on an exhaust sniffer.

The carburetor is okay, the engine can easily get started when it's cold. There's no problem during cruising, even at high speed. The problem started when the engine is hot/warmed up. Idle gets a bit shaky and diffucult to start. What's wrong?

There are several possible causes, and the best way is to start with the basics - air, fuel, ignition at the appropriate times.

Have someone measure manifold vacuum when the engine is hot to check for vacuum leaks.

Check to make sure that the choke pulloff is working properly and check the fuel level in the sight glass on the side of the carburetor.

Check to make sure that idle speed is set correctly and the correct carburetor is installed with the correct jets.

Make sure all heat shields on the fuel line are in place.
