Transmission Locked with No Power

Help!

My Highlander battery died last night with the vehicle in the garage and even with the ignition in the "on" position and the brake and shift buttons depressed it remains locked in PARK.

Needless to say, this makes it difficult to push out and jump start.

Any suggestions out there?

Try using the bypass lock probably located on the transmission hump. Insert your key, maybe turn it, and the transmission unlocks.

You can get a battery charger and charge the battery or use long jumper cables or use one of the portable jumper systems or use the shift lock bypass if you want to shift the transmission out of park.

To use the shift lock bypass, somewhere on the shift console will be a small plastic rectangular tab. Pull the tab off and insert a key or screwdriver into the opening. While pushing down on the key or screwdriver, you should be able to shift out of park.

You can't carry a new battery into the garage?
