Wierd...93 Celica Door Handle Frozen

93 Celica GT: Door Mechanism Over the last several years Ive had many problems with the drivers side door mechanism getting stuck. It feels like the handle on the outside doesnt quite make the mechanism disengage and the door is stuck. From the inside I can open it but recently both sides do not work anymore and the door is like frozen shut. Ive taken apart the panel but find it real hard to work inside or to see what is wrong. What could be the problem and how can i repair it? Anyone have a service page for this type of thing?

Its a keyed entry. The inside of the door seems to open it ok but the outside handle doesnt seem to open it all the way. at least thats what i can see. if i stick my hand inside and manually give the rod a tug then it will open. im hoping someone has had the same problem and show me how to replace the mechanism.

You might also check the condition of the door hinges, particularly the upper one. These wear out (and for a 93, probably are worn out) and the door drops a few mm, making the lock jam.

Its the mechanism. While the door is open i simulate a door shut by turning the mechanism, that is the black part on the door jamb that cathes the metal u shaped rod to grasp the door. I then try to open the door from the outside and the mechanism will not release. if i use the inside handle and give it a firm tug then the mechanism will release. the outide handle will only make it release if i tug the inside and help it manually.
