Door is stuck

First, out of curiosity, how come there is a flurry of postings from Autoboardz? All at once...

Second, remove all the screws you can find. One behind the door handle, possibly one in the area you grip to close the door, the armrest under some covers, and look UP from underneath. If you have manual windows, use a screwdriver or needlenose pliers to remove the clip holding the crank on (press the door panel in to see behind the crank.)

When you have all the screws, pull GENTLY from the bottom of the door panel. If there is TOO much resistacne, look for another screw. If not, yank gently but firmly and the door panel will free itself, and then lift up.

First, try unlocking the door from both the outside and the inside.

The actuator rods rarely break, but the plastic clips that connect them often break if someone tries to break into the car with a slim jim.

To remove the inner door panel, look the underside of the armrest for plastic plugs. Pop the plugs off with a small screwdriver to access the screw underneath. Most door armrests have 2 screws holding them on. Look behind the inner door release handle and see if there is a screw there. If there is, remove it.

Starting at the bottom of the door, carefully the inner door panel away from the door itself and work your way around the perimeter of the door. If there is not enough room to work, unbolt the driver's seat.

I was wondering that myself, including the flurry of postings regarding Celicas.

It certainly does not smell straight. Either it's a wind-up or someone like a back-yard car bodger trying to obtain cheap (but good) servicing advice. Too stupidly complicated for a wind-up (surely?). The assorted stories and names attached to the same style of posting aren't needed. Honesty works far better. But some folks Just Don't Get That.

Let's hope this spate of posts has an innocent explanation. If the poster(s) provide it, that would seem a fair(er) exchange.

Either that or the folks at Autoboardz figured out how to access the newsgroups.

I think an Exploratory is called for...
