05 Camry Rattles & squeaks

I finally found the annoying rattling noise in my 05 Camry W/6000 miles on it. When it gets cold it gets worse as does the rest of the car with the window seals creakingn and other door rattles. The major annoying rattle turns out to be something in the shifter which can be replcated by lightly tapping on the top of the shifter (automatic). I can stop the rattle by holding may hand on the shifter and putting light pressure on the shift lock button. Seems like Toyota is getting cheesy like GM as they start to get comfortable being dominant. My 2001 never had any of the rattles and sqeaks this 2005 does. Anyway, I will let the dealer try and fix this poor design under warranty and hopefully some of the noises will subside.

Anyone else had this problem and success fixing it?

My 2001 Avalon was a rattle box. Fortunately now it is someone else's rattle box.

That's disappointing in a newish vehicle. It doesnt take much to cause an annoying noise. Try removing the console around the shifter (use a workshop- manual) so the linkages/cable-control is revealed,..then provided there is nothing falling apart, apply some heavy grease is small quatities to the effected area.

I have same problem with window seals creaking, I even tried putting silicon spray suggested by dealer and it won't fix it. Have you changed the seals to see if that fixes the problem ?

I had some other door rattle noise that I fixed after spending 5 visits to the dealer and finally learning how to dissasemble the door panels (which was useless keep reading), and finding out it was the door latch's "U" shapped metal thing that goes on the driver seatbelt pilar, the 2 screws (star shapped socket) that hold it not properly tight. Man, that was a annoying metalic rattle driving me crazy.

I think I heard this before, I'm going to try your diagnostic next time I heard it.
