Not sure what is wrong, but my Camry will shift into reverse but will not go backwards. I figured this was a transmission problem. Will I have to replace the transmisssion or is there a cheaper fix? Help!

What is the history of the car, ie. mileage, other issue with trans. When was trans fluid changed out??? Does it opperate in Drive and shift ok??/ Is it intermittent, or temperature dependent?

Start by trying new fluid and filter.

Check Trans fluid level, color and smell the fluid. If low, fluid is dark color or smells burnt. Change out fluid & filter per advise from ransley. If low, you may have a leak, check for leaks after filling up.
