Valve covers are trickier on the V6 because access to the rear bank is limited. Actually, there's a list of recommended items when the timing belt and spark plugs are replaced - which are due now. That would be the logical time to also replace the gaskets and seals.

Had the oil been changed recently? It doesn't take much of a spill to create a few drops after an oil change.

Personally, unless it starts recurring, I'd let sleeping dogs bury their own dead.

Are you sure its oil an not AC condensate.

The rear bank cover gasket, on the passenger side, tends to leak and makes people think it's their PS pump. Quite a few messages talked about this. At 88K miles that's probably what's happening.

The valve cover gasket and spark plug tube seals should be replaced. As well as the PCV grommet and valve on the rear cover. While there change out the spark plugs (I prefer NGK Iridiums).

Yes, the timing belt, drive belts (power steering, alternator/AC), cam and crank oil seals, idler pulleys and water pump should also be replaced.

I'd also change out the fuel filter. But there are reports that the bottom flare nut to the filter could seize (at least on the 4 cyl.s). I never had a problem with those.

Dealer will probably charge you about $1500 or so for the above, plus additional $ for the remaining 90K maintenance (oil change, ATF, brake fluid flush, tire balance rotation, brake inspection, etc). The parts for the above are ~$300-350.

Ask around for a good independent shop that specializes in Toyotas to get a quote for comparison.
