1996 Toyota Camry Stalled While Enroute to Destination

Feb 07, 2005 3 Replies

My husband was driving my Camry home from work then it suddenly stalled. He's checked the coil/distribitor/rotor button and it's all in working order. Any ideas as to what is causing our car not to start...he's baffled!!

How old is the timing belt, it could have broke, could be allot of things , fuel, air and spark are needed to run. Pushing on wires and cap wont tell you anything. If it is getting spark then it is likely fuel related

I think the timing belt has been replaced once. I have over 200,000 miles on my car so it could be that. My husband thinks it's the fuel pump.

Fuel pumps rarely go bad on those guys. Can your husband check the timing w/ a timing light? Remove the valve cover or the top timing cover? You should see about that timing belt first.
