silence remote entry beep

i have a 2007 camry LE that makes this obnoxious "you're so special" purchase reinforcement sound when the doors are locked or unlocked via the remote control on the key. i have a 2007 sequoia that came with directions for how to shut that sound down, but the camry manual only says "see the dealer." i tried the sequoia's sequence on the camry but no luck. it won't stop beeping when i lock or unlock the doors.

how can i make this thing shut up? i already know i am special. i dont need the car to remind me every time i unlock or lock the doors! i can only imagine how annoyed my neighbors must be with this nuisance noise pollution.

anybody know where the this nuisance noise polluter is located under the hood? can i just pull of its wire without messing up everything else? TIA

Ah...hahaha.

I totally agree with you; I turned that noise off first thing. The only thing worse than the chirps are the peeps who buy aftermarket systems that honk the horn when the alarm goes on and off. I feel like tossing a brick at those....

The instructions for mine came with the car...it's a little manual for the Toyota factory alarm...didn't you get one? You'll prolly never figure it out otherwise as it's a really bizarre combination of key turns and doorlock/unlocks.

So if you don't have that manual (and no one here responds), I guess you'd best ask the dealer next time you go in.

...cause you're special!

hahahaha.....

Oh, I will look for an alarm manual. I had only looked in the owner's manual because that's where the directions were for the Sequoia. Thanks!

Chris,

Yours is a fairly old post so you may have found the solution by now but, just in case you haven't try this sequence from Gadget's Solara page (

:

You 'can' switch off that annoying beep you hear each time you lock or unlock your car doors. (Don't you turn and gaze at your Solara as you're walking away anyway? The beep is just redundant) To switch the 'beep' on and off. With the drivers door opened

  1. Insert key into ignition then remove it
  2. Within 5 seconds, insert the key again and turn to the "ON" position
  3. Wait 10 seconds then push the lock or unlock button twice within 10 seconds. You'll hear two beep sounds letting you know the program has been switched on or off.

If you've done the setting using the 'lock' button and want the beep switched on or off for the 'unlock' button go through the same procedure using that button. You can do the same with the trunk button.

The default is "beep" if you turn it off using the above method and decide you want it back for some reason go through the same process to toggle the sound to "on".

Toyota's OEM alarm was made by Fujitsu-Ten. They have a fax back number where you can get complete manuals and installation instructions. Cool reading (actually most wiring is already in place, takes 30 min to install RS series). Google for the Fujitsu-Ten fax back number.
