Anyone know the best place to "tap" into 12volts for a radar detector? I need to hardwire. I have a 2001 Toyota Prerunner, the manufacturer of the detector says to make sure you have a 12volt negative ground..... TIA Dan

The Toyotas are 12V, negative ground, look at the battery to verify, the "-" terminal on the battery is tied to the body and frame of the truck. Back of the cigarette lighter is one good place to get power from, or if you have any of the power points try them. Otherwise, get a volt meter or test light and check the fuse box for unused circuits. Or as I did, I added my own fuse box up front by the battery and ran my own power and ground wires back to the cab for all my "stuff".
