Puzzled by my truck

Howdy all. I have a 1985 Toyota pickup, 22RE. I will go into the whole problem; I don't know if it applies or not.

About a month ago I had difficulty shifting into gear. I got the truck home and realized the reservoir was empty. Refilled it, bled the clutch, and magically everything was great.

Fast forward to yesterday. The truck has no difficulty shifting into gear. It in fact feels the opposite. After releasing the clutch pedal, the truck takes a lot more RPM to move. My wife has also complained that it takes forever to get up to highway speeds.

Like I said, I am not even sure that the current problem has anything to do with the clutch. I bled the clutch again, got air bubbles, kept bleeding until none. The problem was unchanged.

Another concern was when I originally bled the clutch a month ago, a lot of rusty fluid came out. This time, none did.

Any help you guys can give would be greatly appreciated.

How many miles on the truck? Original clutch? I'd guess that it's time for a new clutch as it sounds like it's slipping.

I would suggest checking the master? cylinder on the inside compartment firewall. See if there's been any leakage onto the carpet or flooring. It will never dry up on its own.

How does he know this??

It may likely be worn out clutch disk or the disk is contaminated/flooded with some oil. Either can cause poor engagements of the clutch and engine
