T-100 / Tacoma Differences???

I'm just starting to shop for a newer Toyota pickup. I know for sure that I want something between '98-'03 Xtra Cab with the SR5 package. I using the Auto Trader web site and I'm getting a little confused. What are the differences between a T-100 and a Tacoma? What is the last year that they used the 22RE engine? My current truck is an '85 Extra Cab with the SR5 package and the 22RE engine, 2 wheel drive and a 5 speed manual transmission. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Jerry

T100 and Tacoma are entirely different trucks and should not be compared for any reason. The T100 is a terrific truck.

The 22RE was discontinued around '95. However, any of the subsequent 4-cly engines are equally solid. I wouldn't even bother to look to see what 4-cyl you get. The 3.4 V-6 in a 2WD pickup will blow your hair back and not do too bad on gas either.

You'd be better off comparing the T100 and the Tundra.

I don't know. I think the T100 is closer to the current Tacoma than the current over-sized Tundra.
