Toyota Sienna - Back Door

Oct 13, 2003 5 Replies

Could someone please tell me if it's possible to open the back door without using the latch. The latch broke and now I want to replace it. The only problem is my door is closed and I am not sure how to open it.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Omit the nospam. to email.

Thanks

Nope. One can easily leave the 'trunk' by just going out the doors, lol.

Can you take the interior back door pannel off? They are usually held on with those little "christmas tree" clips. If you break a few, you can buy them at Autozone. It would probably need to come off to fix the latch anyway.

There is a little panel maybe 4 inch X 4 right in the center. I wonder if that perhaps may be the place to unlatch the rear hatch from the inside. If I remember tommorow I'll check it out on my 04 Sienna and get back. dale

Thanks for the info. I searched the WWW and someone responded. Using a screwdriver, I was able to simulate the same movement as the latch. It took a bit of time but I was finally able to open it.
