2001 new beetle power window problem

I?m trying to repair the passenger side power window. The cable is twisted and resembled a plate of spagetti after I got inside the door panel and took a look. Problem is I can not remove the inner panel of the door to get to the window. What do I need to do to get in there? While searching last night I saw that this has happened to other NB owners. Was there a recall for this? We just spent over $700 for a new water pump for this car and can?t afford another expensive repair. Any help would be much appreciated. Kelly
