Aircooled Diesel Engine

I seem to remember an article in Hot VWs about a VW diesel engine in one of the Type 1s, but it was probably an experimental engine. I want to say it was air cooled also. I would have to dig through hundreds of mags to find that article again. Of course I could be wrong too! Anyone remember this?

My little brother has an old 30HP aircooled diesel rusting away in his yard. I think its from a generator or some sort of pump.
