i posted about a week ago . im looking for the striker plate on the rear decklid for a 65 bug. NOT the push button latch, but what it actually latches to on the decklid. i know this part is removeable on the early bugs. ASSAYS in fontana wanted me to buy an entire rear apron after having me drive 75 miles after telling me he had one which didnt make me very happy. anyway, any help would be appreciated

Not sure if you mean the catch on the apron, if so unless they changed something for '65 it's spot welded to the apron... at least it is on the H apron on my '60 and also on my '62. Removing it could be done by drilling out the welds I guess... what happened to yours?!?

GI was looking for one last summer for my 66 and found one at a VW show. I had seen one earlier in the summer on TheSamba.com. You might try searching there periodically under "catch", "latch" or "deck", you never know how they'll be described.

It's a simple bolt-on strip of flat steel, with some bends in it. Make your own!

Euro 66: it's attached to the apron with 2 M6 bolts. Apron has two nuts sorta "embedded" in it.
