Hell no way is this AOL only. You can get to it with any ISP. I use a free news server that *anybody* who can get online can use. Your ISP will probably give you info on a news server they maintain. AOL doesn't have anything to do with whether or not you can access this newsgroup. Congrats on breaking away from AOL. It's a good move.

You'll need to get the name of the Comcast news server from them. Then config your browser for it. First time you log on, the browser will likely download

pffft....i have Cox high speed cable internet access....and believe it or not i chose to continue my subscription to AOL....(for broadband version)... some things aol has that you can't get if you are not a member have convinced me it is worth it to keep it...but i'm wierd....hehe..

Comcast carries it on their servers, but some Comcast subscribers only get Giganews or some other 3rd party newsgroup provider so that might not be guaranteed for you.

It doesn't matter though. Individual.net is a free newsgroup provider (used to be part of a German University actually) that is well regarded. You just go to

The Problem is that you don't have a news reader................Download something like the Agent newsreader and configure it to netnews.comcast.net...............I think.

That is what I had to do when I had Comcast. I loved their news servers too, Missed almost nothing.................

If you go to the COMCAST website and search for news groups it's there and/or,..............I think maybe it was under "configuration"

i have comcast and they have a news server (possilbe gignews) i access it through outlook express. contact comcast and they will hook you up with an account name and password for their news server. dave

Yes, they have Giganews. Heard bad things about it. I haven't set up my home account yet (I have 3 kids, 'nuff said), but did get the UN/pass. I don't know about bads thing with it, but i have noticed that with AOL (at work) there is a lot more spam showing up in the headers (topics?). At home (comcast) i don't see any spam in the headers
