FS: Rust free, spotless, all original 56 Oval

In Finland.

Second owner selling.

Car currently has a SWEEEET 1776 engine in it, built by yours truly with *money*. No cut corners, no pennies saved. Everything new, except the case which was carefully selected from about a dozen candidates. Fan shroud is used too, because of teh superior quality it offers compared to anything out there on the market. Runs like a top. 75 on the freeway all day long, and oil temperature stays steady at 200 on a 75F day. Oil temp usually hovers around 185 regardless of load or speed, when you keep it under or at 60mph. Measured from the dipstick hole. The only cooling mod is a type 4 oil cooler in place of the original doghouse cooler. It doesn't need anything else, because it was built RIGHT (If I may say so myself). Yet it is not a low compression lugger. (8.5:1 and Engle W110 cam, nothing radical). Engine was built to visually resemble a stock period engine as well as possible, paint scheme and all. But you can't really hide the dual 40mm Dellortos and the crankcase breather.....

Tranny is from a later model beetle, nothing special. Works flawlessly.

Then why did I say "all original"?

because the original transmission ane engine are stored away and will be put back in the car before it is sold (if the buyer wishes us to do so).

The original engine and tranny will follow the car no matter what, no extra cost.

You can get the car a little cheaper if you choose not to buy the big engine or the late model tranny.

This is a perfect car. No rust, never been welded. No need to either. Original headliner is a little darkened, and the rear seat has a darker area in the fabric. We have not tried to clean either of them, since we are not experts in refurbishing fabrics. We'd probably end up ruining it and make a pro cleaning people cringe.

The car has working semaphores, and has NOT been converted to 12V.

It has never seen salted roads, and for the last 20 or more years it has been garaged during the winter, and has only been "aired out" and inspected every summer. It hasn't even seen RAIN until the past couple of years (New owner). The original owner is an old geezer by now, but he took *REALLY* good care of the only car he ever bought new. Like cleaned the battery terminals with a toothbrush twice a year, according to himself.

The very last 2 years it has been in my care, stored away. Driven a couple of times every summer, to keep everything operating smoothly. Moisture absorber ball & water collector container is kept inside during humid weather and epmtied /refreshed periodically.

They don't get sweeter than this. No need to restore in any way, as I can tell. The original engine could use a rebuild sometime in the future. But it's not a must, it still runs well.

Negative: Someone told us the engine is not original, but very close to being manufactured the same year. Needs double checking. Also, to provide more air for the big engine, I fabricated a deck-lid latch stand-off bracket, and welded it on top of the existing receiver piece, with two small spot welds. So the lid is propped opoen from the bottom, ever so slightly. You can barely notice it, and the locking latch still works the same. I regret doing that. LOL.

Extras: Front disc brake kit with wheel adapters (steel) await in boxes. Brake lines, master cylinder, everything. Brand new steering damper too (you'd need to weld in a bracket, we haven't had the heart to do that yet)

Just NOT there: No monster tach, no Stinger exhaust ( I made one of my own for it, fairly quiet with one hide-away muffler) no Killa Stereo (or holes cut for one), no messed up wiring, no fancy bling bling wheels, no big fatty tires, no dripping oil.... no

009 hesitation, (yes it has a new 009, it works, I played with it some), NEVER been smoked inside, no stickers, no extra chrome.

Pictures available upon request. (Of anything you want to see). I can't remember the paint code, but it could be sahara beige or something. Sure looks like that. Very light brown, or tan. LOOKS like all original paint, but I just can't believe how PERFECT it looks!!

*if* it was resprayed at some time, it must have been done by a real pro. I couldn't find evidence of it. I just keep telling myself "this can't be.. this can't be... Why oh WHY is it not mine???"

Any offers? Buyer pays and organizes shipping, we will help.

No, it won't be cheap. Owner, the bastard, (my friend) knows what he's got there. So please don't try to amuse us by lowballing. It won't work ;)

No fixed price yet, there's a sort of a minimum reserve but we are currently trying to determine value. Yes we'd help ship it to USA, but buyer pays shipping and does all US paperwork.

If you want to coem see the car, I'll provide free accomodation at the location where the car is. Duhh, my house! :D
