Fuel Gauge Sending Unit in old 60 Bug??

Hello - I have a european 1960 bug that has been converted to 12 volt. Is their a way to install a fuel sending unit in my 1960 tank, so that I can have a gas guage? If you know of where to buy the parts or anything, please let me know. If you know of a different model tank that uses a sending unit that would fit my 1960, please also let me know. I would like to get a gas guage one way or another installed. I think they call my tank the hump. It comes up like a hump about 6 inches and has the gas cap inside the trunk on the top left of the tank..

Also looking for a set of black lap seat belts.

THANKS!

do you have a reserve valve? You can get reproduction units.

As far as I know any of the later tasnks up to a 67? model will work in your

  1. They have an opening in the top of the tank for the fuel float type sending unit. The cutout is already in the right hand side of the dash I think next to the Speedo? It has been a long time since I did this in my 58. Anyway the early model fuel gauge was mechanical so it will work fine. You will have to run a wire for the gauge light though but a simple thing to do as well.
