garage organizing

been hard at work trying my best to get the garage in some sort of shape. currently, we have to store all the lawn and garden equipment, 3 vw's, sailboat equipment, other misc. crap, etc., etc. a friend of my wife's wanted a pix of our garage, so i took some to send and also show off the progress i've made. not quite "there" yet. still have to install flourescent lights, organize a little more, throw more away. you know the score.

so here's some pix of the current garage. parts for a 74 westy, a 62 ragtop, a 70 'vert, a few engines, temporary parts cleaning table, and even a pix of the maroon behind this mess.

if you guys have any organizing ideas to help me out, please lemme know. i'm not too proud to borrow someone else's good ideas.

click on the link below my signature and click on "garage" photo album. all the other albums are open to see- but only misc. crap for the curious :)

You have too many shelves, and you're way too organized. Plus you need another garage.

Well, if you gave the '62 ragtop to me you would then have more space to organize stuff. ;)

Otherwise, if you converted you garage into a TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimension In Space) you could map the exterior to the real world but map the interior to a different dimension, hence making it as big as you would like. :)

Hiya Bob,

From looking at the pictures (and simply reading your post) it's easy to tell you are a guy who values organization. My suggestion..................try to separate the VW related items from the usual household stuff commonly found in the garage. In other words try to develop a "VW only" space. Now, that may not be entirely realistic given constraints on space and finances, but you'll feel better if you can progress that way. For example, in my garage (a two-car garage) I set up three Gorilla Racks and placed all my extra parts on them. These racks also serve a "divider" between the VW part of the garage and the household stuff.

the grand need to just simply find what i am looking for causes me to try and become more organized. unfortunately, i tend to have my fingers in too many pies.

My suggestion..................try to

good idea.....

gorilla racks??? i guess very heavy duty shelving. haven't heard of the brand name or nick name here, mebbe could be something new in st. louis. but then again, i rarely look down the shelving aisle on my frequent trips to the hardware store.

got a pix of them???

thanks

Hiya Again Bob,

I do not have a picture, but.......................

Gorilla Rack is simply a brand name. Got 'em at Costco. They are basically a matal frame (about 6 high by 3 wide by 1.5 deep) which allows one to adjust the four shelves. The shelves themselves are metal frames with a particleboard center.
