Lowering my first Bug

I bought from Aircooled.net a pair of adjusters for my ball joint type front end in my '70 Bug, and am doing one at a time so I don't loose beam alignment, I have the lower one fitted in no problem, but I'm a little confused which way to locate adjuster in order to lower suspension. If anyone has a picture it would really help. My reasons for lowering are that I discovered my original beam was rusted and dangerous, so I bought a new complete beam locally so I could keep my car on the road, after installation I realized the front end was way too high, I also noticed that the center set screws had slightly different clock positions, is that right? So now while installing these adjusters I think I need to compensate for this difference and end up with what I think should be three inches lower. Any article or advice would really help. Thanks Douglas

Douglas I have done this recently and have documented all but the installation of the adjusters. (Got in a hurry and forgot the camera)

My lesson learned in the whole thing was, don't install the adjusters upside down. I bought my adjusters from Aircooled also. Good quality and easy to install. My only gripe was that the instructions that came with them suck. Not bashing Aircooled.net as they have no control over this. The Pics that are on the instructions are very poor quality.

And yes I did install the adjusters upside down, meaning the adjustment screw was at the top of the beam pushing down on the adjuster. The proper installation should have the adjusting screw pointing toward the ground and should push the adjuster up when screwing in. I know I was stupid and I even thought about it as I was putting them in.

I fixed it by cutting the collar off and moving it to the bottom where it belonged and welded back.

If you have questions you can mail me direct or post here, direct will get a response faster as I only check in here about twice a week now. My email is on my web page and so it the axle removale procedure. The other suggestion I would have is to check your ball joints and tie rods while you are doing this as you will have the whole thing apart while doing this.
