lowering swingaxle bug

sorry if this has been answered before, i did search, but couldn't come up with an answer. here's my question: i just got a 65 beetle and have been looking into lowering it, what i cant figure out is how to lower the rear of it, and even if i do, wont i get some terrible camber that'll eat away my tires? having driven a lowered honda i have found out just how fast bad camber can eat away a tire, i went through a brand new set of tires in 4 months. the front seems to be an easier task of just buying lowering spindles and adjustable beam. Any help would be appreciated!

It would be just the opposite of lifting it by turning the spring plates on the torsion bars. Shaggie lifted a swing axle and took picks.

It's cool to loose ground clearance? Follow any baja bug and find out how cool it is...

BTW Yes it screws up your camber... So have extra $ for more tires...

...you really donat have any quick and simple solution here. The swing axles will lead to the camber problems you have allready observed. OK...so whats the solutions?? There are three options that I can think of off hand. 1) get a late model IRS pan and drop your body on it and slam to your hearts content. 2) weld in pivots and convert your pan to IRS and slam to your hearts content. 3) Drag racing kit to raise the engine and tranny ....several downsides for a streetcar biggest for you is that it prolly wont drop yo as low as you are lookign to go...but here is a link

NO...i meant exactly what i wrote...you say follow a baja to see how "cool" it is to lose ground clearance, and i say you should take that raised baja full throttle into a turn behind a lowered beetle...then

*you* can tell us how cool it is to raise a beetle...oh never mind... J

I see where you are coming from... Screw the tight corner at full throttle.... Speed kills. You take the low road and I'll take the high road. I'd rather be able to go most anywhere rather than lose that but be able to go thru a tight corner at full throttle.

that is the drawback of purpose build vehicles...that is why i used to have a "cal look" and a baja...the best of both worlds...wooohooo J(who misses his baja)
