newbie question about "types"

type 1 = beetle, Karmann Ghia Type 2 = Bus Type 3 = notchback, fastback Type 4 = 411 and 412 "big" aircooled vw's, "variant" (Station wagon) and what's the other one.. looks like a bloated fastback..

Not to be mistaken with the VW buses that in Europe are called: T1, T2, T3..... where the T stands for Transporter.

Nope, the 1600 type 1 engine was a common option all the way to 76 and far beyond

There was never a type 2 engine, the engine you refer to is a Type 4 engine.
