OT....WAY OT.....Koi ponds and hot tubs....

As some might have known, we just bought a house....(explaining the lack of cheap Ebay finds being posted).....and after scouring the 'net and 'groups for help.....I realized I should have just tried RAMVA first.....anyway..... ....number 1......got a koi pond with the house.....approx 1000 USgal....and I don't know squat about how to take care of the damn thing.....and there isn't a koi NG....go figure....any one out there have experience?....



.....number 2.....it also has a wood-fired cedar hot tub.....one solitary jet with a filter....no skimmer......circulates from the bottom to top....and now has a "film" or something on the surface.....drained it and scrubbed it out......next day....film back....any ideas?....

How much chlorine did you use in the H2O? Adding an ozonater (sp?) might help?

Tried chlorine (hot tub...not koi pond!)....all is fine but this weird film.....guess I will have someone for the local pool shop look at it.....

Thanks for the koi links.....tried a few of them before posting here.....got a ton of attitude on several for being a newbie and not for building my own pond.....sucks being a newbie......and got some very conflicting answers....and since I don't know who is an expert and who is a moron trying to be an expert....I thought I'd take a shot here since I already know who tosses BS and who doesn't:)

Are you running a multistage mechanical filter system or a bio\trickle system? I'm building a TT now to try to clear up the algae issue I have, the nitrate levels are ok and I'd like to keep them that way without chems. Adding some water cabbage and a few more lillies....wish me luck! Thanks for the imput
