priming

What are some of the things that can be done to prime a newly rebuilt 40hp? In general, due to the cold, I've heard that this time of the year is'nt really the best time to even run an air cooled motor.

Any thoughts here?

Thanks in advance.

Just make sure you have OP before it's starts in anger.Turn it over 30 seconds at a time several times with the coil wire off. Then a few drops of gas down the carb(be sure the choke sets),and after it starts ,a fast idle(2k).Run a few minutes(best sound around),check for oil leaks and don't forget that first(and most important )oil change.Motors don't care what the season ,only the temp.Enjoy.Steve

Like Steve said... turn it over with ignition disconnected...

As far as temp...remember the engine was designed for cold German winters. (Better than the hot summer temps...)

Take a look at where Germany is on the globe. The cold is where these cars were designed to operate.
