Decided to try something a little different... I've pulled apart about a half dozen bad switches, and the problem in EVERY single one is that the contacts are arcing (they are too small to begin with) and oxidising. I've also noticed that there are two versions (so far that I've found). If you look at the end of a non-german switch it will either be white or black plastic. The white plastic version is superior (lasted me about 6 months). It has contacts that are about 3 times larger than the black plastic version (which only lasted 3 weeks) AND they are copper - the black plastic versions contacts look like they are stainless - i'll put a page up later with pics. I think the switches just cant handle the amp draw, so I installed a relay. While I was there, I also installed a capacitor and a diode for a little extra protection (as mentioned here:
