Replacing signal arm switch...

I'm planning to replace it on my 70 Ghia. I bought a new one and was told that I'd have extra wires. Is it possible?

How difficult is it? Do I just take off the steering wheel?

I think that on a '70 you have to take off the steering wheel, remove several screws and pull the old switch off. You MAY have to cut the connectors off the wire ends to get it out.

The replacements I've seen don't have connectors on the ends of the wires, so you'll have to snake the new wires down the column first and then crimp on new connectors, then attach them properly.

Be careful to take notes of where all the old wires came off so you can put the new ones back correctly.

I seem to remember having a couple extra wires on the '69 when I replaced the switch on it. After verifying everything worked without them, I cut them close (at the bottom of the steering column) and taped it all up.
