Semi OT: Photo Shop Project

Nov 29, 2004 19 Replies

About 10 or 15 minutes from my house a church has recently unveiled a

62 foot statue of Jesus, and it is billed as the worlds largest Jesus statue. The church sits right on I-75, so every passing motorist can't miss it. I saw some moron in an Expidition pull off into the median to take a picture of it. There was a story and photo in the Cincinnati Enquirer. The photographer went to get his shot, and a New Beetle happened to be driving by at that exact moment, so it made the paper too. Would have really been better if there was an ACVW or even a Baja in the photo instead of the New Beetle. Can anyone take care of that LOL Here is the link to the article and pic. 67 Beetle

The world's largest Jesus statue? With it's 62 foot height?

I guess they forgot the one in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil that stands on the mountaintop by the Ipanema and Copacabana beaches, 175 feet tall.

Jan

You guys have a 175 foot tall status of this guy?

y'all are *weird*. :-P

status=statue. Joke=ruined.

"King of Kings"statue. They have spent about $250,000 to finance it.

I keep saying if you want to get rich open a church. Think the money could have gone to better use, other then bragging rights.

just my 2 cents.

Mario

Americans are just stupid, Jan. But you knew that.

................You're confused about the difference between ignorance and stupidity. Most Americans are smart enough to know what they need to know and to not give a rat's ass about the rest.

Don't worry, Bill. HIS simple mind obviously hasn't figured out who gets the respect and who doesn't.

Now time for an admission... I've been bad... *hangs head in shame* I drove a new beetle... And the worst part? I LOVED it! H O L Y S H I T ! It was great! DeeDee left me to house sit over the holiday. The original plan was to leave me the crappy Jetta that's on its last leg... And on her way out the door she wakes me up and says "Here are the keys to the bug. There's no point in taking it with us. If you wreck it, pray that you die, because if you survive and you're laid up in the hospital after hurting my car... I'll kill you." The initial plan was to play it safe, but as soon as I discovered it would do

65 in 2nd gear... it was over. And I'm so ashamed to admit how much fun I had driving that car. You know how most cars you drive a time or two and it's boring, just another car. Well, every time I got into that one it was all "Woo hoo!". I found myself gazing out the door at work to dream about when I could clock out and go for a drive. I must be punished.

Now I want one. :(

Dumb as a rock and a waste of money

Bill, for balance there is that current TV ad with the dark-red Ghia. Most excellent, slightly spooky commercial.

Around here we call the NB's Bed-wetters.

I have a look what i can do to that pic.

Will that one have turbo like the one I drove?

No, but the triple black convertible "new beetle" she has does...

Theories:

Just another case of "My Jesus is bigger than your Jesus".

Maybe VoA is trying to capture the NeoCon market.

You know, I think the idea could catch on. The (near) space race is over so now we can compete on who has a Jesus that can be seen from orbit!

The poor, hungry, and oppressed could forget their troubles and take pride in their country again......"Look at the size of Our Jesus!"

Sorry, maybe I'm getting kidney stones ;)

I have some Brazillian friends up to visit a couple times a year. I'll have to send them the link.

John

I don't think people in Ohio get out much. Maybe they meant to say it is the tallest shi**y statue. It looks like it was made from bailing wire and spackle.

I may be over the line here, but who cares. I'm all the way in Alaska, so nobody can reach me up here. It sounds to me like if you want to get rich you would open up an ACVW shop and take money without actually producing a product. I worked for a guy like that up here in Juneau. He spent 12-16 months in Arizona because of it.

Are you sure you haven't been keeping up on things here in RAMVA? This particular response to this particular post goes much deeper than you might imagine. -BaH

I know. I read through a number of old posts and another site that had some interesting information. Still sounds like a good deal.....unless you believe in karmic retrobution.
