straight cut gears and product branding

Oct 03, 2003 2 Replies

I just got a set of straight cuts from a mail order store thinking that it was made by CB. I was told over the phone that they were. Upon receiving the item, it was actually branded as EMPI. I check the image they had at CB and it looks exactly the same.

Are there a large amount of distributor that purchase from one man manufacturer and re-brand them?

Should I keep the EMPI set or refund it and search for a CB set?

Thanks Michael

Not entirely sure on this, but I think a lot of the companies (Magnum and Scat withstanding) get their gears from the same source, DynaGear. CB and EMPI's maybe the same gears, just different names stamped on them. As long as their forged and not cast you should be fine...

thanks, i decided to keep the EMP as i was told that it's the same one that CB has. appearently they buy from the same manufacturer
