The hunt for 3-point retractor seat belts (that fit and work well)

I tried the California Import Parts ones, but the construction is flimsy, the pillar bracket doesn't have the alignment pin, and buckle looks like an american style.

Then I tried the Wolfsberg West one. Much better construction (I can use the original angle bracket. Unfortunetly, the return spring has little omph and leaves almost three feet of slack.

A couple years ago I bought a pair for another super I have. They are original mexican beetle replacements. They have a great return spring, and fit well. But

is gone.. Anyone if they are still around, or if I remembered the URL wrong?

Or if any other suppliers sell the real mexican VW seat belts? The stock number on the box, if it helps, is #1B0-857-705A

However, the website says they will no longer be taking orders from the general public, only from clients who bought cars from them and wholesale customers. Maybe you should email them to find out who they are (the wholesale customers) and buy from them instead.

If not, maybe ACN has some good quality seatbelts in stock (even if the website don't show them). I cannot say for sure since I've never bought seatbelts from them.

.........See if there are any Vanagons in the salvage yards in your area. The front ones are an easy bolt-in fit on a bug. You could try a VW dealer for new ones but the price might be prohibitive.

anyting but stranger things have happened.

That's a good idea.. I've never gone to a VW dealer before. Well, actually once as kind of a joke asking about a steering box :)

Over the past year I have purchased many, many OEM parts from: "Antonio Trejo" Antonio has provided very good service. The shipping is by air and is very prompt. Get a price on the parts and shipping before you commit. George
